Co-Designed Curriculum

Following extensive consultations and robust discussions with our Project Advisory Group made up of a diverse mix of aged care providers, the curriculum has been shaped to directly reflect sector priorities and needs.

These insights ensured the learning content addresses key challenges, including:

  • developing competencies tailored to the aged care sector and aligned with industry standards
  • support for unemployed or transitioning workers
  • broader needs around workforce development, learning and job readiness

As a result, module topics and release dates have now been confirmed, with content tailored to both residential and community care settings.

Key Module Launch:

  • Palliative Care – launching 1 November, supported by the Support at Home funding initiative for end-of-life care at home
  • Incontinence Care – launching January, highlighted as a high priority topic by several providers, reinforcing the importance of practical, role-specific training.

Flexible and Targeted Learning

There’s no set order this program and learners can pick and choose modules based on their individual needs, roles or identified learning gaps. This flexible approach supports a variety of nurses across the aged care workforce.

Recruitment Success in Queensland

The Employment Gateway has successfully supported the recruitment of pre-screened nurses in Queensland demonstrating strong early outcomes in workforce readiness and placement.

Migrant Immersion Program

The Migrant Immersion Program is designed to ease the transition for migrant nurses entering the sector ensuring they are empowered, confident and equipped to deliver high-quality, culturally responsive care.
Our targeted eLearning modules will provide a fast-tracked understanding of the Australian aged care landscape designed specifically for internationally trained nurses.

Quality Use of Community Palliative Care Medicines Project

This program is designed to empower nurses to support individuals who choose to die at home through tailored education, practical resources and improved access to essential medications.

Ageing Australia is currently in the consultation phase, working closely with key stakeholders across the sector to identify existing knowledge gaps and better understand on the ground challenges.

This phase is essential to ensure the program is grounded in real world insights and aligned with the needs of the sector.

As part of the Quality Use of Diagnostics, Therapeutics and Pathology Program the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has funded The Quality Use of Community Palliative Care Medicines Project. The Project will be delivered through a consortium, led by Palliative Care Australia (PCA) in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA)Ageing Australia and caring@home.
