Regional, Rural and Remote Home Care Workforce Support Program
Growing a skilled, sustainable home care workforce in Victoria and Tasmania
Ageing Australia is proud to be a delivery partner in the Australian Government’s Regional, Rural and Remote Home Care Workforce Support Program, which aims to recruit an additional 4,000 home care workers over three years in areas where workforce shortages are most severe.
Through a coordinated approach to workforce attraction, recruitment, training and retention, Ageing Australia will support home care providers across Victoria and Tasmania, specifically in Burnie, Ulverstone, Devonport and Shepparton.

Through this program, Ageing Australia is working directly with local aged care providers to:
- attract and recruit new personal care workers (PCWs) into the home care sector.
- support both new and existing PCWs to access the skills and training they need to deliver safe, high-quality aged care services.
- strengthen mentoring and leadership capabilities across the existing workforce to improve support for new staff and encourage long-term career development in the sector.
Our work also focuses on helping providers build their internal workforce capacity by improving their HR practices from streamlining recruitment and onboarding processes, to enhancing retention strategies and fostering strong links with local training providers.
By supporting both individuals and providers, we are helping to create lasting workforce solutions that will benefit older Australians in regional, rural, and remote communities for years to come.
