Program overview
The Gerontological Nursing Program sets a new standard in gerontological care and empower the next generation of nursing leaders.
This program equips registered nurses in Queensland with the necessary skills and confidence to excel in their roles, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of care within the sector.
Our aim is to support and inspire more nurses to pursue fulfilling careers in the aged care sector through a comprehensive suite of initiatives including:
- a series of online micro-credentials
- expert guidance and support from an experienced Clinical Nurse Educator
- a Queensland Graduate Nursing Community (connecting graduate nurses seeking employment with aged care providers)

Learning Modules
The program offers case-based learning to support registered nurses, with modules released progressively over three phases.

- Compassion in Residence: Delivering Quality Palliative Care in Aged Care Homes
February 2:
- Maintaining Dignity: Best Practices in Incontinence Management for Older People
- Early Signs, Better Outcomes: Detecting Deterioration in Older People
April 1:
- Planning with Purpose: Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and Care for Older People in the Community
- Layers of Care: Nutrition, Skin, and Wound Support for Older People
