How to add an element to a post or page

How to add a Text Box Element to a Post or Page

Step 1

Login to the main dashboard.

Step 2

Click on Add New Post

Step 3

Add a title for the Post.  Click on the “Backend Editor” to show the Page Builder

Step 4

This will show the option to add elements.  Click on the “+ Add Element”

Step 5

This will show the option to add elements.  Click on Content Band to add a content band to the page.  This will allow you to control what text or images you can add in a row (content band).  Just a quick note, in some cases,  depending on the Theme of the website, particularly with X Theme (which is what Gowrie Consultancy is built on) the Page Builder system might show different names for the different elements.   Also, when added rows (content bands) you can have multiple content bands on a page.

Step 6

After adding a content band, you can change the band to have one or more columns.  Just hold your mouse over the columns area as shown

Step 7

Adding a content band means you can add “elements” to that band, in each of the columns that you have made (whether just one column or multiple columns).  Click on Text box to add a text box to the content band.

Step 8

Once you have added a Text box to the content band, a “text area” will show where you can enter in the text you want.  You can directly type it in or copy and paste it in.

Step 9

You will see the text field you have added and some of the text you added in the content band.  You can edit the text field (or any element that you have added) by hovering your mouse over the element and clicking on the little pencil in the green menu that appears

Step 10

Once you have added all the elements that you want (such as text boxes, image boxes and any other elements that you need), allocate the post to a category.  This allows the website to understand what kind of post it is – and is important if there are pages that dynamically add posts to the page based on the category of the post.

Step 11

You can also add a featured image to the post.  Featured images can be used as main images at the top of a post.   They can also displayed on pages that have many posts as a small image of the main one.

Step 12

Add an excerpt to the post.  An excerpt is what shows as the short snippet of text that explains what the post is about
